Sonya Karen Kinch credits much of her Artistic inspiration to growing up in Ireland and the time she spent on the Irish coast. Much of her work is based on this love of the sea and can be seen in her recent collection ‘Seascapes in Porcelain’. Travel has also been an inspirational muse and influenced many of her current pieces including the ‘Cocoon’ series inspired by the Berber people of Tunisia and the ‘African Mother’ collection’ from time spent in Kenya.

Sonya has been showing her work consistently for 16 years with numerous group exhibitions, private collections and commissions. In Ireland, her work has previously exhibited in the Design Yard, Whichcraft Gallery, William Frank Gallery, The Gallery Dalkey and Red Aesthetic Gallery.

Sonya graduated from The National College of Art and Design in 1998 with an honours degree, specialising in ceramics. She is currently Head of Art and Design in a South Dublin Secondary School and divides her time between creating her own work and passing on her passion for art to others through teaching.
